Belamba is a Madagascan duo part of the ethno-modern movement, where ancestral traditions and contemporary sounds come together with great intensity. Joël Rabesolo (guitar) and Tonny Randriamanantena (marovany, vahila, percussion, flutes and vocals) – the son of Donné Randriamanantena of the Ny Malagasy Orkestra – blend traditional instruments with jazz and rock influences. Their music, both organic and vibrant, unfolds a unique soundscape, deeply rooted in the red earth of Madagascar. Straddling memory and modernity, Belamba evokes contemporary society, history and Madagascar’s cultural richness. A powerful and soulful project, where voices, timbres and rhythms transform into a true journey of discovery.
Their album is due to be released shortly on the Liège-based label Homerecords.
