This travelling production creates a dialogue between the musicality of the French language and the sounds of traditional instruments. A poetic journey born of the collaboration between two projects based in Huy: La Slamerie, a slam poetry scene founded and run by Msieur13, and the Polysons festival, which brings traditional music to every corner of Huy.
For this performance, two guest musicians will improvise live to the texts of the slam poets:
Their challenge: to compose a unique soundtrack for each text on the spot. A high-stakes exercise, entirely improvised, which you will have the privilege of witnessing. From this encounter between words and music will emerge a sensitive, fleeting and original dialogue.
The tour will stop at three locations:
-‘Hôtel de Ville’ stop: in the Wedding Hall, Mohammed Amine El Korchi, a qanun player (a table harp and iconic instrument of Arabic music), will perform alongside the works of six slam poets.
-‘Galerie Juvénale’ stop: Jacoba Kint on the lyra (Greek lute) will accompany the texts of six slam poets
– Finale (shared by both groups) at Muzette – 100% Slamerie group finale
Practical information: When booking, please choose your starting point: Hôtel de Ville or Galerie Juvénale. Whichever you choose, the route includes all three stops. The groups will meet up along the way, exploring the stops in a different order, before coming together at Muzette for a finale that’s 100% Slamerie.
A collaboration between Les Polysons, La Slamerie, M’sieur 13, Muzette and le Centre Culturel de Huy.
