Description
Brother and sister, Parveen and Ilyas Khan embody a new generation of artists from the great Indian musical tradition. Trained in Jaipur in the rigours of classical music, they are shaking up the codes with finesse and daring. Parveen explores the maands – rare and expressive folk songs – in a resolutely lively approach, driven by improvisation. Ilyas, playing the tablas and the beatbox, blends tradition with urban rhythms, injecting a singular percussive energy into a thousand-year-old heritage.
