MUSIC EVERYWHERE AND FOR EVERYONE!
For a long time now, our non-profit organisation has been promoting traditional music from all around the world, beyond the concert halls. Having taken over many of Huy’s heritage venues, it seemed obvious to us to go beyond that target and meet Huy’s organisations and audiences.
We are convinced that, above all, traditional music should be alive and accessible to everyone. We wanted to offer musical experiences to people who, for various reasons, find it difficult to go to concerts. That’s why, in 2023, we decided to reach out to this audience! Throughout the year, we offer a specific programme entirely dedicated to this desire for inclusion. A migrant aid organisation, a women’s organisation, a home for the physically and/or mentally disabled, a homework school, youth centres, unemployment beneficiaries, a local community centre… We work together on musical propositions.
We take artists out to meet young people. Here, for example, we recorded an interview with the artist Ariane Cohen Adad, who had the carte blanche in 2023. She was interviewed by young people from the radio workshop of the Maison des Jeunes – La Mézon. Their podcast was rebroadcast at the Polysons Festival.
We organise acoustic concerts in schools or youth organisations, such as this one at Dora Dorës on Wednesday afternoons. These concerts are followed by discussions and a question-and-answer session.
We collaborate on events that promote intercultural values by programming artists. Here, for example, is a concert by the duo Elias Bachouras and Noman Hanna as part of Migrants Day 2023, in collaboration with Dora Dorës.
During the festival, we will be hosting a children’s course that is organised by the Huy Cultural Centre. The children will have the opportunity to attend concerts, meet the artists, visit backstage and radio recordings…
This year we’re delighted to be working with the Jeunesses Musicales on their project to organise an Ethno course in Huy during the festival, focusing on traditional music. It is a course for young adults who are semi-professional musicians. After a week of intense learning, the results will be showcased on the Place Verte stage on Sunday August 25.
